NMCI iPhone GovDelivery

All NMCI managed iOS devices (CAC and NON-CAC reader enabled) are required to be at the minimum operating system version of iOS 10.3.3. Failure to comply with an acceptable version will result in the denial of NMCI resources until the update occurs; the device’s voice, text, and browser functions will not be impacted and continue to function.

REQUIRED ACTIONS: In order to ensure connectivity to the NMCI network is not disrupted, all iOS devices must be updated to an iOS version of 10.3.3 or higher. Beginning 18 August 2017, a version checker will be enforced resulting in the denial of NMCI resources for iOS devices operating below iOS version 10.3.3.

Any users that are not currently at an acceptable iOS version for NMCI access should follow the instructions below to perform an upgrade.

1. If the NMCI iOS device is CAC reader enabled, please adhere to the following steps to properly upgrade the device to 10.3.2.3:

A. Upgrade device to iOS 10.3.3.

1. Plug iOS device into power receptacle and connect to the Internet (with Wi-Fi).
2. Tap “Settings” > “General” > “Software Update.”
3. Tap “Download and Install.” If a message prompt asks to temporarily remove apps due to the iOS needing more space for the update, tap “Continue” or “Cancel.” Later, iOS will reinstall the apps that it removed.
4. To update now, tap “Install.” Alternatively user may elect to install at a later time by tapping “Later” and choosing “Install Tonight” or “Remind Me Later.” If “Install Tonight” is selected, plug the iOS device into the power receptacle before going to sleep. Overnight, the device will update automatically.
5. If prompted for a passcode, enter personal passcode.

B. CAC-enabled device upgrade is complete.
2. If the NMCI iOS device is not CAC reader enabled, please adhere to the following steps:

A. Proceed to the Apple App Store and download/install the latest version of GFE APP (release 3.2.5 or later).
B. After successfully installing GFE, reboot your iOS device.
C. Hold the power button until prompted on screen to power off.
D. Once the device is completely powered down, press and hold the power button again until the device begins the power initiation cycle.
E. Once powered back up and online, launch the GFE Application to verify NMCI mail can be accessed.
1. If NMCI cannot be accessed, contact the service desk. If NMCI mail is accessible, proceed to step 3.
F. If iOS device can successfully access NMCI mail, update the device’s iOS.
